ROLE SUMMARY
The Corporate Affairs Director will lead AstraZeneca Gulf’s external engagement, reputation management, policy shaping, and communication efforts, aligning with the company’s strategy and values. The role requires proactive engagement with governmental bodies, regulatory agencies, healthcare associations, industry partners, media, and other key stakeholders to advance AstraZeneca’s interests and support access to innovative medicines.
Key Responsibilities
Own the strategy and the plan delivery of partnership pilar across the cluster, working closely with the CP.
Ensures there is an effective Corporate Affairs strategic capability within area of responsibility
May own the most senior engagements with government and officials or lobbyists and all external communications forums & events
Leads or offers expert support to improvement initiatives aimed at increasing the effectiveness or efficiency of one or more areas of the Corporate Affairs function, at the local, national or regional level
Own managing relationships with partners including acquisitions, divestments and strategic alliances.
Performance managers senior GA, External Comms, Patient’s Advocacy professionals to ensure the function continues to operate smoothly
Leads policy shaping for above brand e.g. insurance programs etc.
Supports policy shaping of TA mega projects that have complex external stakeholders’ involvement at cluster level and / or at national level in the key markets.
Lead the existing and explore further strategic partnership initiatives e.g. Localization, MOUs, Declaration of Collaboration
Establish external Communications framework and plan to ensure proactive engagement with officials and media to build external corporate reputation
Offers appropriate training and development opportunities to build a pipeline of talented professionals capable of filling future vacancies

Reputation Management: Safeguards and enhances the company’s corporate reputation in all communications.
Crisis Management: Leads effective crisis response and communication strategies.
Media Relations: Manages media interactions and cultivates positive coverage for the organization.
Leadership: Inspires and develops high-performing teams within the corporate affairs function.
Essential for the role
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Health Sciences, Public Policy, Communication, Political Science, Business Administration, or related field.
3+ years of relevant experience in corporate affairs, governmental affairs, communications, or public policy—preferably in the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
Deep understanding of Gulf healthcare ecosystem, regulatory environment, and key policy issues.
Strong network with local policy makers, health authorities, and healthcare stakeholders is a plus.
Proven experience in, advocacy efforts, policy shaping, communication and media and stakeholder engagement is a plus.
